8 Tips to Being Happy

Happiness is the elusive emotion we all our chasing. That feeling of having enough, being enough, and being loved. The emotion that everyone conveys over social media but few actually have obtained.


Part of working towards feeling happy and peaceful is knowing what you need to work on. Rome wasn't built in a day, so these things take time. Identifying what is disrupting your peace and happiness is crucial!


Let me preface this list by saying, these are the ones that I work on often. I don't have them down 100% but it's important to know what I am working towards. I've gained a lot of insight over this last year and I want to share with you tips on how I am working on maintaining my happiness and peace.




Here are 8 tips for maintaining your own happiness and peace.


  1. Social Media Cleanse: There are many studies out there showing us what a toll social media can take on our lives. Looking at pictures of people that have seemingly perfect lives and wondering why ours isn't as good or comparing ourselves to how others look. With that being said, it's important to minimize your time scrolling (for many reasons) and to cleanse your timeline of any negative content/people that disrupt your peace in any way.

  2. Cutting Ties With Toxic People: I'm proud to say this is one I have down. When someone starts to show a toxic side and disrupts my peace, they are gone. I wasn't put on this earth to befriend others at the cost of my own mental health and peace. It's not always easy but it's worth it. If you surround yourself with toxicity and negativity, it's going to bleed over into your own life.

  3. Find a Fulfilling Hobby: It's hard for everyone to find a job they consider fulfilling, so make sure you do have an outlet that fulfills you and your needs. I am personally blessed with a job that fulfills me and I have my fish as another outlet. If you are just constantly giving, your bucket is going to become empty, so make sure you have a hobby of some sort that gives you purpose and fulfillment

  4. Get Some Sun: When I think of happiness, I think of sunny days! What about you? It's important to get out there and soak up some of those rays when you can. Even if it's just reading your book on the back patio, get some of that sun!

  5. Deal With Issues Now: There is nothing worse than that feeling of knowing you need to address something but you aren't. It hangs over you like a dark cloud and weighs down your shoulders. So stop putting things off, deal with them now!

  6. Allow Yourself to be Happy: I know it's not that simple, but you can do everything in the book to work towards happiness, but if you believe you don't deserve it, it will remain that elusive feeling you continue to chase. Know that you deserve it and allow yourself to have it!

  7. Meditate: This can be as simple as sitting in silence for a few minutes or diving deeper in. Either way, learning to clear your mind and control your thoughts can be a game changer. What's the worst that could happen if you tried it?

  8. Take Care of Your Body: It's no secret that your physical health plays a huge role in your emotional health. If you sit on the couch all day eating junk food, you can't expect to feel that warm feeling of happiness and peace. Give your body good foods, exercise, and just overall learn to love the body you've been given.

As you can see I don't offer any super top-secret ways of feeling happy, I just know these are some of my own personal actions I take every day to maintain the happiness and peace I feel in this wonderful life.
