Top 10 ‘Not Mushy’ Movies/Shows for Valentine’s Day

If you’re anything like me, you have to be in a particular mood to want to watch gushy movies, and they are rare. Most of the time I’m up for a good comedy with a dash of romance at most. (Or a good horror movie but Mike hates those.)

So I’ve compiled a list of my favorite movies/TV shows on Netflix right now that I absolutely love watching with Mike. These all gave me a good laugh, may have some romance to them, but overall are just a good watch.

Consider these over the Notebook this Valentine’s Day, your significant other will thank you for it!

Top 10 Favorite ‘Not Mushy’ Movies/Shows for Valentine’s Day:

1. The Bounty Hunter: Okay, I’m starting with this one because it’s actually not on Netflix but it’s so worth watching! I might be biased because it’s the movie that was playing during my & Mike’s first kiss BUT it’s an amazing movie where the SEXYYYY Gerard Butler is a bounty hunter and is hunting down his bail-jumping ex (Jennifer Anniston). Both the main characters are mine and Mike’s top celeb crushes, so it was the perfect movie and it's absolutely hysterical! All I have to say is… ‘me next Mr. Butler.'

2. Jexi: I cannot say enough about how funny this movie is. It had me doing the ‘I have to cross my legs to laugh because I had kids’ dance. It was thee funniest thing I’ve seen in a long time and if you haven’t seen it yet you need to! It’s a story that follows the amazing Adam DeVine and his journey with a pushy version of Siri… Jexi. Including awkward romantic moments of her wanting to be plugged and unplugged repeatedly. I laughed so hard!

3. Bad Words: Nothing romantic about a 40-year-old man who is bad for revenge in a spelling bee against a bunch of 12-year-olds. Jason Bateman is a total d-bag and is out to dominate spelling bees across the country, but the only thing is, he’s up against a bunch of elementary kids. It’s totally bizarre, offensive, and hilarious.

4. The Change-Up: A Ryan Reynolds and Jason Bateman masterpiece!! This movie is one that I watch a couple of times a year because it is absolutely hilarious! Two best friends, who have completely opposite lives, end up switching bodies after peeing into a magic fountain one drunken night. You can only imagine the crazy hilarity that follows! It’s a must-watch!

5. Murderville: The funniest, weirdest sketch show ever. The entire show is scripted except for one character and they are left to flop and try to figure out what to do. It’s dumb and hilarious. I laughed so hard that I almost cried. If you haven’t watched this yet, you need to!

6. Me Time: It has the beautiful Kevin Hart & Mark Wahlberg, you know you can’t go wrong with those two! The typical story of a party boy reunited with his friend who is now a family guy. It’s hilarious, has a few funny storylines you don’t expect, and just overall leaves you feeling in a good mood at the end.

7. 21 or 22 Jump Street: I don’t even have to explain these because 99% of us have seen them. So just add them to your rewatch list, they are always on mine. A good comedy about 30-year-old men, hiding as middle-aged men to bust a drug ring. You know, the usual. If you haven’t seen them, I have to ask where you’ve been since they’ve come out.

8. Uncharted: Another Wahlberg movie with Tom Halland. A funny action movie that’s not too action if that makes sense. It was a great watch and stays away from the mushy gushy that is Valentine’s Day. They are off to find lost land with tons of comedy tied in.

9. Red Notice: This is a Ryan Reynolds movie because drool… I mean, I respect him as a human being and actor. This is another funny action movie that will have you laughing and cheering for the good guy, well goodish guy. It's a spy movie that also stars the rock that will have you laughing the entire time. There are plenty of twists and turns throughout that will keep you on your toes!

10. Murder Mystery: This has Adam Sandler and Jennifer Anniston, so it’s a masterpiece! They are a mess of a couple in the best way and find their way onto a millionaire’s yacht during a long-awaited vacation. During this time, they end up needing to solve a murder mystery, it’s a hilarious version of Clue being played out in front of you. You won’t want to miss it.

Not all of us want to watch mushy-gushy movies on Valentine’s Day, sometimes we just want to laugh and make out.

If you’ve already seen these, drop a comment and let me know which one was your favorite!
